At Spilled Milk, we design custom automation workflows that combine AI-driven content generation, Slack-based approvals, and automated social media publishing. One of our recent projects involved building a bespoke solution for a growing media brand in the travel and loyalty space that needed to streamline how it turned industry updates into high-quality, on-brand content — without sacrificing control or voice.

The Problem

Their content team was bogged down by a manual workflow:

  1. Sourcing news across dozens of industry sites
  2. Writing custom captions for each platform
  3. Managing approvals across tools and emails
  4. Copy-pasting into scheduling software

It was inconsistent, time-consuming, and not scalable.

The Solution

We developed a Slack-first, human-in-the-loop automation system. Here’s how it works:

Custom AI Automation with Slack integration

  1. Automated Discovery
We pull relevant news using curated RSS feeds and APIs — filtered by industry keywords and categories.

  2. AI-Powered Captions
Extracted headlines and summaries are passed to OpenAI (GPT-4) to generate polished, brand-aligned social copy.

  3. Slack-Based Approval
Each draft post is sent to a Slack channel with image, caption, and article link — where team members can instantly approve or reject with one click.

  4. Auto-Scheduling
Once approved, posts are automatically pushed to a Social Media scheduling and posting platform in scheduled mode — with no manual upload required.

  5. Optional Web Sync
Approved news can also be published to a website’s news section (WordPress,  or headless CMS supported for example). It can also be used to suggest Blog article topics.

Why It Works

This flow creates a centralized, intelligent content pipeline that keeps humans in control — while automating everything else. It’s ideal for marketing teams, publishers, or brand leads who want to:

  1. Cut down manual content creation

  2. Improve speed to publish

  3. Maintain approval oversight

  4. Centralize workflows in Slack

  5. Scale without hiring more hands

Whether you’re in media, SaaS, education, eCommerce, or finance, this kind of system can be tailored to your brand voice, tech stack, and audience expectations. Every automation we build is rooted in our client’s unique challenges and goals — designed to fit seamlessly into the way their team works.
